Kareem-Abdul Jabbar Attempts (and Fails) to Silence Trump, But Plays the Fool Instead

Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, once a talented basketball player for the NBA, has turned political pundit, and is attempting to silence Donald Trump by characterizing his response to personal attacks as an attack on Constitutional rights.  Unbelievable.  According to Jabbar in the Washington Post, "If you don't have time for political correctness, you don't have time to be the caretaker of our rights under the Constitution."  Jabber went on to say that Trump represents the biggest threat to our Constitution today.  Yes, that's right, bigger than ISIS, bigger than unemployment, bigger than Barack Obama, Trump is the biggest threat to our very nation.

In fact, Jabbar made his case by pointing out  that things Trump have said are worse than denying the handicapped access to buildings, denying women employment and committing racism against black people.  Perhaps we should call him Kareem-Abdul Jabber from now on.

Fox's Megyn Kelly Fabricates Quote from Donald Trump

CNN's Megyn Kelly, known for recently dusting it up with the Don at the August GOP Presidential debate, is doubling down on blowing her credibility on the topic of Trump.  The claim here is that Trump said, "Ben Carson didn't create tens of thousands of jobs like me."  Except, Trump didn't say that at all.

In an interview with the Daily Caller, what Trump said about Dr. Ben Carson and the latter's recent rise in polls was, "“He’s really a friend of mine, I just think it’s a very difficult situation that he puts himself into, to have a doctor who wasn’t creating jobs and would have a nurse or maybe two nurses. It’s such a different world. I’ve created tens of thousands of jobs over the years.”  Which, of course, is simply factual.

I am at a loss to understand why news professionals would put their integrity and credibility on the line this way, when not being believable means their bread and butter.

CNN and Club for Growth Destroy Their Credibilty Over Trump

MJ Lee, a political reporter for CNN, seems confused.  In an article released through CNN entitled, “The Many Versions of a Donald Trump Meeting“, Lee compared the possible outcome between the September 3rd meeting between RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and Trump to other meetings Trump has held in the past with other prominent figures, implying that Trump is not truthful regarding his business dealings as the two sides present a different narrative afterward.

First of all, handicapping a future meeting is not news, but we'll let that one go in respect for Ms. Lee. Rather, it is speculation.  However, her article focused on events from yesterday’s news cycle, wherein Donald Trump exchanged heated Tweets with Club for Growth President David McIntosh.  In Trump’s version of the meeting, “The President of the pathetic Club for Growth came to my office in NYC and asked for a ridiculous contribution of $1,000,000. I said no way!”, according to Trump.  McIntosh’s telling of the events was remarkably different.  According to McIntosh, “"Actually, @realDonaldTrump asked for that mtg & then asked for races he could support. Thought he could buy us off. Worst Kind of Politician.”

It should be noted that the two parties involved here have a long standing enmity.  In June of 2015, Club for Growth released a statement that they would not be doing a white paper on Mr. Trump, as, according to writer Doug Sachtleben, “There is no need to do a white paper on Donald Trump.  He is not a serious Republican candidate, and many of his positions make him better suited to take on Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary. It would also be unfortunate if he takes away a spot at even one Republican debate. “

All of this led MJ Lee of CNN to conclude that Trump’s account was somehow disingenuous.  In any series of events, however, it is not uncommon for two or more parties to dispute the events which occurred.  Sorting out the reality from the perception of those present is known in legal terms as looking at “stipulations”, or those things with which both parties agree actually happened.

What we do know, according to both parties, is that Club for Growth has said some mean, nasty things about Donald Trump in the past.  We know that a meeting took place, which involved a discussion of Trump giving money to Club for Growth, and we know Trump refused.  This would more naturally lead one logically to conclude that Club for Growth attempted to shake down Donald Trump for money in exchange for an apparent change of heart from Club for Growth, and that Trump stood down the bullies.  This does not make Trump disingenuous, it makes him a stalwart negotiator.

It also makes one question the judgment of MJ Lee of CNN.

Trump to Meet with GOP Chairman to Discuss Loyalty Oath.

In response to the demand from the Republican National Committee for all presidential candidates to sign a loyalty oath, promising to support whomever becomes the 2016 GOP nominee for President, Donald Trump will be meeting Thursday morning at his New York office with Reince Prebius, Chairman of the Committee.  

Trump has scheduled a 2 PM press conference, following  this meeting.  

Republicans Demand Loyalty Oath

The Republican National Committee today announced and released a pledge requiring all presidential candidates to swear loyalty to the 2016 nominee for their party, regardless of who that person maybe.This disturbing development of a new Republican loyalty oath appears to be aimed at Donald Trump,the Republican frontrunner for that position.  Mr. Trump has most notably refused to pledge supportfor a candidate when he does not yet even know who that person will be or what positions they may have.

Mr. Trump has stated that he only wishes to be treated fairly by the party, and agreeing in advance to support anyone the party may choose would place him at a disadvantage.  It should be remembered that during the 2012 race, last minute rules changes during both state and national GOP Conventions prevented duly elected Ron Paul supporting delegates from exercising their rights to support and nominate their chosen candidate, most egregiously when the National GOP simply replaced 10 delegates from Maine with their own chosen group.

The proposed loyalty oath reads as follows:

“I [name] affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is,” the pledge reads. “I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.”

Doug Schoen, a veteran Democratic Party consultant and former advisor to both Hillary and Bill Clinton, had this to say about Donald Trump:  “I think Trump has been pretty specific.  He’s said he wants to build a wall, he’s said he wants to potentially send in ground troops to run ISIS out of the oil fields. I think Trump is the most substantive candidate and deserves kudos for that.”
