Liberal RiNOs: Lying to Create the Anti-Trump Anchor Baby Narrative

In recent weeks, Donald Trump has put forward the notion that anchor babies, the children born within the United States to illegal alien parents, are not themselves citizens and as such , can be deported along with their parents.  Many across the political spectrum, from Hillary Clinton, have not only disagreed with Trump, but have gone so far as to accuse him of attempting to alter or abolish the 14th Amendment, which guarantees equal rights to all U.S. citizens. We should expect this from the likes of Hillary Clinton, who would lie about what day of the week it is and may soon be under indictment following the current FBI investigation of her email improprieties.  However, the accusation is coming from some republicans as well.

This past August, attorney David Rivikin, an official in the Reagan and Bush Administrations, himself an immigrant from Russia, wrote in the Los Angeles Times, that the “issue of  birthright citizenship has been settled”.  Rivikin makes the argument that, “Under (the 14 Amendment’s) text, structure and history, anyone born on American territory, no matter their national origin, ethnicity or station in life, is a U.S. citizen.”

However, this position calls deeply into question the credibility of Rivikin as a constitutional scholar, especially in light of the fact that Rivikin is a member of the international advisory group, the Council on Foreign Relations, which gathers together to advise on world-wide policy.  If Rivikin’s ability to interpret legal policy is that deeply flawed, one wonders what other basic errors he may be making with international rules-making.

According to United States Immigrant Services, “A person born in the United States to a foreign diplomatic officer accredited to the United States is not subject to the jurisdiction of United States law. Therefore, that person cannot be considered a U.S. citizen at birth under the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution.”  This clearly demonstrates that some babies born within the United States are definitively NOT born as U.S. citizens. In fact, American Indians were only granted citizenship by Congressional action in 1924, and some tribes still reject it today.

Further, the U.S. Supreme Court backs this idea up rather thoroughly in their interpretation of the 14th Amendment. Rivikin attempts to make the point that in the (1898) case U.S. vs. Wong Kim Ark, that the Court concluded, “the 14th Amendment affirms the ancient and fundamental rule of citizenship by birth within the territory, in the allegiance and protection of the country, including all children here born of resident aliens.”  However, that case only applies to legal immigrants, and those entering or residing here illegally are still very much subject to the jurisdiction of a foreign power, as Immigration puts it, and therefore, their children are in no way U.S. citizens, even now.

Curiously, Rivikin is much less likely to be ignorant of these facts then he is to be purposefully lying about them to embarrass Trump. The demonstration of this is where he points out the idea that a British legal scholar in the 19th Century, William Blackstone, famously said, “The children of aliens, born here in England, are generally speaking, natural-born subjects, and entitled to all the privileges of such."

The issue here is that as any first-year law student could tell you, legally speaking, words are very specific and what the esteemed Blackstone was speaking about was that the children of aliens would be Subjects of the British Crown, and NOT citizens and entitled to granted privileges and NOT rights enjoyed by those citizens.  Rivikin, being a well-experienced attorney, would be well aware of Blackstone’s meaning and to present such a point as granting citizenship rights to anchor babies would be nearly a gross malpractice.

In conclusion, despite what you may have heard, Donald Trump is in no way trying to amend the Constitution nor abolish any part of it.  The people who are saying so are either ignorant of the meaning of the law, or willfully lying about it.  Many of these people, like David Rivikin, may be supportive of other candidates running against Donald Trump in the primary process, despite a claim of being republican.  Trump, contrarily, is pointing out the very serious challenge of having 400,000 foreign babies born each year, who owe little allegiance to the United States, but who would enjoy full rights of citizenship under current policy, including anchoring their parents and shielding them from deportation.

Trump actually pulled off a masterstroke move in signing the recent GOP loyalty pledge, as all candidates now critical of his campaign and personal style will also be forced to support Trump should he ultimately win the nomination.  As Trump himself has said, when asked by the press why many fellow republicans would offer sharp criticism of him, Trump noted, “They are running against me, after all.”

Trump Security Scuffles with Protesters

During the afternoon press conference Sept 3rd, a scuffle broke out between Trump security and anti-Trump protesters, along 5th Avenue in front of Trump Tower, where the media event was being held.  According to reports, protester Efrain Gallicia and Trump security officer Keith Schiller were the two primarily involved in the physical confrontation.

Accounts vary as to the unfolding of events.  From Gallicia's perspective, Schiller and other Trump staff were attempting to steal and destroy their anti-Trump banners, while the Trump Campaign has offered that protesters were blocking pedestrian traffic along 5th Avenue

The Trump Campaign has added that they will be pressing charges against Gallicia.

Trump Signs GOP Loyalty Pledge

At approximately 2 PM on Thursday, Sept 3rd, Donald Trump finished up a meeting with Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, where Trump signed a pledge not to run third party and to be supportive of the Republican Party during the up coming election cycle.  Trump told reporters at a follow-up press conference that he was simply looking to be fairly treated by the
GOP and so gave the impression that he might run independent if not treated correctly.

During the press event, Trump told the media, "The best way for the Republicans to win is if I win the nomination and go directly against whoever they happen to put up. And for that reason, I have signed the pledge,...So I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and for the conservative principles for which it stands."

Kareem-Abdul Jabbar Attempts (and Fails) to Silence Trump, But Plays the Fool Instead

Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, once a talented basketball player for the NBA, has turned political pundit, and is attempting to silence Donald Trump by characterizing his response to personal attacks as an attack on Constitutional rights.  Unbelievable.  According to Jabbar in the Washington Post, "If you don't have time for political correctness, you don't have time to be the caretaker of our rights under the Constitution."  Jabber went on to say that Trump represents the biggest threat to our Constitution today.  Yes, that's right, bigger than ISIS, bigger than unemployment, bigger than Barack Obama, Trump is the biggest threat to our very nation.

In fact, Jabbar made his case by pointing out  that things Trump have said are worse than denying the handicapped access to buildings, denying women employment and committing racism against black people.  Perhaps we should call him Kareem-Abdul Jabber from now on.

Here's Trump's response:

Fox's Megyn Kelly Fabricates Quote from Donald Trump

CNN's Megyn Kelly, known for recently dusting it up with the Don at the August GOP Presidential debate, is doubling down on blowing her credibility on the topic of Trump.  The claim here is that Trump said, "Ben Carson didn't create tens of thousands of jobs like me."  Except, Trump didn't say that at all.

In an interview with the Daily Caller, what Trump said about Dr. Ben Carson and the latter's recent rise in polls was, "“He’s really a friend of mine, I just think it’s a very difficult situation that he puts himself into, to have a doctor who wasn’t creating jobs and would have a nurse or maybe two nurses. It’s such a different world. I’ve created tens of thousands of jobs over the years.”  Which, of course, is simply factual.

I am at a loss to understand why news professionals would put their integrity and credibility on the line this way, when not being believable means their bread and butter.

CNN and Club for Growth Destroy Their Credibilty Over Trump

MJ Lee, a political reporter for CNN, seems confused.  In an article released through CNN entitled, “The Many Versions of a Donald Trump Meeting“, Lee compared the possible outcome between the September 3rd meeting between RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and Trump to other meetings Trump has held in the past with other prominent figures, implying that Trump is not truthful regarding his business dealings as the two sides present a different narrative afterward.

First of all, handicapping a future meeting is not news, but we'll let that one go in respect for Ms. Lee. Rather, it is speculation.  However, her article focused on events from yesterday’s news cycle, wherein Donald Trump exchanged heated Tweets with Club for Growth President David McIntosh.  In Trump’s version of the meeting, “The President of the pathetic Club for Growth came to my office in NYC and asked for a ridiculous contribution of $1,000,000. I said no way!”, according to Trump.  McIntosh’s telling of the events was remarkably different.  According to McIntosh, “"Actually, @realDonaldTrump asked for that mtg & then asked for races he could support. Thought he could buy us off. Worst Kind of Politician.”

It should be noted that the two parties involved here have a long standing enmity.  In June of 2015, Club for Growth released a statement that they would not be doing a white paper on Mr. Trump, as, according to writer Doug Sachtleben, “There is no need to do a white paper on Donald Trump.  He is not a serious Republican candidate, and many of his positions make him better suited to take on Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary. It would also be unfortunate if he takes away a spot at even one Republican debate. “

All of this led MJ Lee of CNN to conclude that Trump’s account was somehow disingenuous.  In any series of events, however, it is not uncommon for two or more parties to dispute the events which occurred.  Sorting out the reality from the perception of those present is known in legal terms as looking at “stipulations”, or those things with which both parties agree actually happened.

What we do know, according to both parties, is that Club for Growth has said some mean, nasty things about Donald Trump in the past.  We know that a meeting took place, which involved a discussion of Trump giving money to Club for Growth, and we know Trump refused.  This would more naturally lead one logically to conclude that Club for Growth attempted to shake down Donald Trump for money in exchange for an apparent change of heart from Club for Growth, and that Trump stood down the bullies.  This does not make Trump disingenuous, it makes him a stalwart negotiator.

It also makes one question the judgment of MJ Lee of CNN.

Trump to Meet with GOP Chairman to Discuss Loyalty Oath.

In response to the demand from the Republican National Committee for all presidential candidates to sign a loyalty oath, promising to support whomever becomes the 2016 GOP nominee for President, Donald Trump will be meeting Thursday morning at his New York office with Reince Prebius, Chairman of the Committee.

Trump has scheduled a 2 PM press conference, following  this meeting.

Republicans Demand Loyalty Oath

The Republican National Committee today announced and released a pledge requiring all presidential candidates to swear loyalty to the 2016 nominee for their party, regardless of who that person maybe. This disturbing development of a new Republican loyalty oath appears to be aimed at Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner for that position.  Mr. Trump has most notably refused to pledge supportfor a candidate when he does not yet even know who that person will be or what positions they may have.

Mr. Trump has stated that he only wishes to be treated fairly by the party, and agreeing in advance to support anyone the party may choose would place him at a disadvantage.  It should be remembered that during the 2012 race, last minute rules changes during both state and national GOP Conventions prevented duly elected Ron Paul supporting delegates from exercising their rights to support and nominate their chosen candidate, most egregiously when the National GOP simply replaced 10 delegates from Maine with their own chosen group.

The proposed loyalty oath reads as follows:

“I [name] affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is,” the pledge reads. “I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.”

Democratic Party Advisor Gives Trump a Ringing Endorsement !

Doug Schoen, a veteran Democratic Party consultant and former advisor to both Hillary and Bill Clinton, had this to say about Donald Trump:  “I think Trump has been pretty specific.  He’s said he wants to build a wall, he’s said he wants to potentially send in ground troops to run ISIS out of the oil fields. I think Trump is the most substantive candidate and deserves kudos for that.”

At 9 % Support to Trump's 26% Support, Can Jeb Bush Still Pose a Serious Threat to Trump, Or Is It Over?
